Violinist Cathy Morris is well-known to Indiana audiences. She has two exciting and different genres of programming. Her contemporary jazz ensemble, Collage, in which Cathy plays electric violin, can be scheduled as either a classroom workshop or performance by the ensemble – or as a short-term residency for middle and high school students. Or you may schedule one of the engaging performances available by Silken Strings, her classical performing ensemble. The rich musical tradition of Central and South America is an integral part of the contemporary jazz scene in the U.S. Your students will find it hard to sit still as they listen to the montunos of the keyboards, rhythmic syncopations of the drums and percussion, and the unique melodies of the guitar and violin. In this dynamic performance with the Cathy Morris 6-person Latin Band, you will hear Rumbas, Mambos, Bossa Novas, and Sambas while learning about the cultures and regions where this music originated.

Strings
The classical ensemble Silken Strings with Cathy Morris offers a refreshing
and unique exposure to string instrumentation. Starting with the classical

country, movie soundtracks, and radio and television theme songs.

A Taste of Music: Cathy Morris and collage
Cathy and her group Collage have cooked up a little something sure to enthrall students of all grade levels. Cathy's four electric violins are accompanied by guitar, keyboards, percussion, and bass. These musical chefs will serve up a buffet of jazz, funk, blues, Latin, and Cajun styles. Or- instead of a "buffet"- you can ask to have this program focused only on contemporary jazz music.

Jazzy strings and things: cathy morris and the silken strings quintet
The Silken Strings and Cathy Morris offer a refreshing and uinique exposure to string instrumentation. Starting with the classical world, the quintet travels on to other genres including jazz, rock, Latin, and country, while also featuring the Spanish Tango, German Polka, Scottish Reel, and Jamaican Calypso.

Theme and Variations on the Violin: A Workshop with
Cathy Morris
In this interactive workshop, Collage leader Cathy Morris presents a travelogue
of electric violin music and a lively demonstration of technique. Students
will be treated to music from Scotland and Ireland, as well as bluegrass,
jazz, and electric fusion. This workshop is truly an inspiration to beginning
musicians as well as advanced players.
