Violinist Cathy Morris is well-known to Indiana audiences. She has two exciting and different genres of programming. Her contemporary jazz ensemble, Collage, in which Cathy plays electric violin, can be scheduled as either a classroom workshop or performance by the ensemble – or as a short-term residency for middle and high school students. Or you may schedule one of the engaging performances available by Silken Strings, her classical performing ensemble. A Musical Tour: Cathy Morris
with Collage
Cathy Morris and her group Collage have cooked up a little something sure
to enthrall students of all grade levels. Cathy’s electric violin
is accompanied by guitar, keyboards, percussion, and bass. These musical
chefs
will serve up a buffet of jazz, funk, blues, Latin, and
Cajun styles.

Let’s String a Song: Cathy Morris with Silken
Strings
The classical ensemble Silken Strings with Cathy Morris offers a refreshing
and unique exposure to string instrumentation. Starting with the classical
world, the audience travels on to other genres including jazz, rock, Latin,
country, movie soundtracks, and radio and television theme songs.

A Taste of Music from Around the
World: Cathy Morris with Silken Strings
Played on string instruments that are usually associated only with Western
classical music, the Spanish Tango, German Polka,Scottish Reel, and even
the Jamaican Calypso are all on the menu for this exciting performance with
Cathy Morris and Silken Strings. Enjoy the ethnic rhythms from Mexico all
the way to Russia.

Theme and Variations on the Violin: A Workshop with
Cathy Morris
In this interactive workshop, Collage leader Cathy Morris presents a travelogue
of electric violin music and a lively demonstration of technique. Students
will be treated to music from Scotland and Ireland, as well as bluegrass,
jazz, and electric fusion. This workshop is truly an inspiration to beginning
musicians as well as advanced players.
